I spent a large portion of my teenage years chatting with strangers on IRC. As much as 12 hours at a time, I would stay up through the night talking with groups in channels I frequented. I'm not sure if this is good or bad for my personal development. Though it did jumpstart my education in computer science and career as a software engineer.
