This person made a mistake and killed someone. As a society we have a system for handling this (the legal system).
Trying to "Regulate these out of existence" (as one tweet responded) is reactionary policy to a case that is handled by individual responsibility and accountability.
What if we "regulated" better bike lanes, dividers, trails, etc for 5 year olds instead of having them ride along 6 lane roads?
- Zanni 5y agoThis person made a mistake which was 1) more likely due to the design of the vehicle (ride height) and 2) more deadly (nose shape). That's something better addressed through legislation (or other incentives) than individual responsibility. I'm all in favor of better bike lanes, etc. as well, but the victim was in a pedestrian crossing.
