The worst story of a forsaken man I've read is a guy who found himself all alone for several years during the 18th century, completely naked, on a sand bank in the Pacific (with not a single plant). He survived by eating turtles and seabirds, and drank rainwater from flipped-over turtle shells. IIRC he was from Peru.
- scanny 5y agoInterested in this and had a google, closest thing I could find is this (is it right?): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_Serrano_(sailor) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_Serrano_(sailor)
- wazoox 5y agoThat may be the one. I've read about this years ago in a book about forsaken people and shipwrecks, I'll have to dig out the book :)
- paulcapewell 5y agoIf it's the one that features a line like "gin-fuelled despair", then it's the one I thought of as well. Edit: huh, it's not. I'll try and find the one I'm thinking of.
