Hmm. I'm likely guilty of "wishcycling". Though the article and comments below make me not sorry for it. If I'm donating to Goodwill to create jobs, sorting waste for valuables is a job. If I'm donating to Goodwill instead of trashing; then at least if there was a surprise niche of eBay buyers for the body of a vintage toaster, there is some possibilty of reuse. Like old clothes; I wouldn't donate a sock with a hole in it -- oh wait, they shred 80% of fabric and sell it was insulation anyway, the hole doesn't matter.
