The masses are the collateral damage. But even in an honest "fair" voting schema how does my neighbor harbor the same sort of values and beliefs in a product as I do. Just like opinions, ratings are inherently subjective and relative to one's own value systems. Some prefer cheap, quick and dirty solutions whilst others prefer durable and long-term solutions.
