- Judgmentality 5y agoAnd that's why we have Netflix today. If Netflix started pushing commercials I'd leave immediately, and I think a lot of other people would too. Meanwhile Netflix is printing money like crazy.
- oehpr 5y agoNetflix did start pushing commercials. They started testing pre-rolls in 2017. They faced huge backlash over it, but they still want to.

- boredwithlife 5y agoThe push now is to have ai-generated items in the show to be used for advertising. That can on the table: it may be coke for you but Pepsi for your friend. The background radio ads in the show, maybe direct advertising. More subtle, still print

- nogbit 5y agoYou can disable that in the settings menu
- banana_giraffe 5y agoAmazon Prime Video has pre-roll ads now. Granted they're all for other Amazon Prime Videos, but they're still ads. I feel like we're in a long game of "boil the frog" till one day we're happy that our favorite service only has one or two ads.
