- crooked-v 6y agoRobot Inventor's hubs, motors, and sensors are all-around better in a bunch of ways (and the hub is half the size, which makes a lot of builds easier), but you can't put Linux on it. Robot Inventor does have a Python interpreter mode (currently in beta) and not just the visual programming blocks of the older EV3, though, which does reduce the need to have Linux in the first place to do fancy stuff. There's also the Powered UP sets, which are much cheaper all round, but have lower-quality parts and more limited programmability (and you have to go through a mobile app rather than being able to work off a computer). The motors and sensors are interconnectable with Robot Inventor, though, and it looks like they'll be releasing 'dumb' battery boxes with Powered UP so that trains, motor/lighting parts in buildings, etc, can all run off the same component ecosystem.
