The lede buried here is that production of Librem 5 is discontinued until October. Purism has this nice racket going where they won't offer refunds until your order is up, but now people who put in money over a year ago still can't get a phone or their money back and the window of time before they can make this claim is now pushed all the way back until at least October.
It's hard to sympathize with Purism here. Supply chain has gotten quite messed up thanks to the pandemic, but there's little excuse to treat your customers this way. It goes beyond negligence and into contempt, if you ask me. The least they could do is put that at the front and center of their update, and offer folks who may want refunds to get out early.
The kicker is that if you order the $2000 variant (because who doesn't love paying more for a low-end phone than they do a couple months rent) their production is still at the same capacity.
