- andrepd 5y agoI had a first-generation one, and it ran on Windows 95/98.
- lostgame 5y agoEDIT: WOW! I found it! It turns out the precursor to Mindstorms, and what I was remembering - is something called LEGO 'Dacta' - http://www.blockcad.net/dacta/ http://www.blockcad.net/dacta/ I was actually able to even find an MS-DOS copy of this software by Googling it; and, sure enough; right down to the parallel port connector this is what I remembered. :) The MS-DOS port: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?G=4109619#T=C&C=9 https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?G=4109... (previous post) Okay, I just looked it up - and this is bizarre. I recall something extremely similar to what you see here as labelled the 'RIS' software: https://scitechexplorer.weebly.com/1st-generation-rcx.html https://scitechexplorer.weebly.com/1st-generation-rcx.html However - this was in MS-DOS, and rather than these, like...arrow; things used to stack together to write the program, they had actual literal different-coloured LEGO bricks that you dragged around to write your program, and the entire engine certainly ran off MS-DOS and spoke through, I believe, the parallel port.
