Researchers Create Free-Floating Animated Holograms
- PaulHoule 5y agoIt's a volume image, not a hologram. A hologram is to a diffraction grating what a neural network is a dot product. That is, the hologram is "trained" by the use of an inverse function to bounce light around in arbitrary ways inside some volume of space. The limitation is that it has to occupy that volume of space. Of course something always occupies the space in a volume imager (in their case a moving bead, sometimes a spark made by a laser, maybe 'volume pixels' of some kind or a tilted rotating disk that a laser writes on) but a hologram is something specific.
