Ask HN: Why aren't you a digital nomad?
The past year has proven to a lot of us that we can do our jobs from anywhere in the world.
And for a lot of us, the idea of working from a cafe in Buenos Aires or a beach in Thailand or a cottage in the Swiss Alps etc is in theory very appealing.
So what are the reasons for not going for it?
- smt88 5y agoLots of reasons. 1. Mixing travel and work results in doing both poorly. I'd rather focus on one or the other. 2. Having a comfortable home, my own furniture, etc. is awesome. 3. I love having dogs. 4. Seeing friends/family daily is more fulfilling to me than seeing Alps or Thai beaches daily. 5. I don't enjoy the planning, research, and bookings that back-to-back travel requires. It's a lot of overhead.
