From my experience I've heard the word toxic in common parlance for about eight years and its just part of a common trend for the common mind. The same minds that gave me shit for plainly stating that light speed wasn't sexist in a 1982 class room, I'm sure. I prefer the 'toxic avenger' style usage from the past.
