Ironically, if you took away Night Shift I would probably sleep better because it would be so uncomfortable to use my phone late into the night when lying in bed. Instead of burning 30-45 mins reading “just one more article”, I bet I would put the phone down after a few minutes of squinting.
Hell, I’m going to turn it off right now and see what happens tonight!
- nexuist 5y agoMeh, I still need to squint even with night shift on and brightness set to 0. Browsing with apps that take advantage of the AMOLED is better but most web pages default to white and that transition between a native app and a Safari view controller is always a treat.
- lgats 5y agoYou may want to try and enable “Reduce White Point” via Settings -> Accessability -> Display and Text Size I have my ‘White Point’ reduced 100% and this feature is turned on/off via the Accessability Shortcut (triple click power button). This effectively gives me another whole range of darkness with an easy triple click. In dark situations, rather than dim my brightness, I’ll use the shortcut. I’ve found the darkest point can actually be too dark! One negative is color and contrast can become a bit distorted, but I suppose this may be a limitation of my eyeballs.
- nexuist 5y agoThanks for the advice! I'll try it out. Although, it might be a good thing that I don't like using my phone for long periods at night :)
