Let me please disagree with you! We are against any type of charity and at the same time we do voluntary activity (like helping elderly, disabled, families in financial trouble, students, etc.) but we do it as a voluntary activity and receive nothing (all of us donates as much as possible) and we work for some company and receive salary, but we do the activity after the job hours, weekends or some of our friends are students or jobless at the time being. So I agree that charities exploit people and for the exact reason we are against it, and we do our independent (from all governments and companies) activity and invites others to do so.
- yokaze 5y ago> We are against any type of charity and at the same time we do voluntary activity I am getting more confused. Who is "we"? [Edit]: Sorry for being dense, you are a volunteer for Save the Children? If so, I can better empathise with your position. > So I agree that charities exploit people and for the exact reason we are against it, and we do our independent (from all governments and companies) activity and invites others to do so. If you want your donations are handled by people doing it essentially as a hobby, that is fine. Give the donations to those entities then. Personally, I think the work done by charities deserves professional attention. The work can be quite complicated, and a lot of well meaning things have been done, which did more harm than good. I do not think, working for charities has to be exploitative, just because people are getting paid. I say, the expectation of a personal commitment beyond a professional one from people working for charities does. The CEO and president, as well as a secretary or a PR person of a charity should be renumerated the same way as one working for a "normal" company. Their work should not be worth less.

We do not have a website, although we have dozens of offices and a monthly journal with circulation of tens of thousands (our monthly journal based in London named Internationalism). We fight against racism, militarism, capitalism, etc. but we are not anarchists, a sect or old-fashioned leftists. > I am working in Machine Learning field, and for me the activities I do are not hobby, they are dead serious and I think you do not care about kids dying if you do not something yourself, and just donating a bit money that is less than you pay for your pet's food, is not charity, it is cynicism! > By the same token, CEO or PR of a charity, is just a brick in the wall that makes the situation worse and worse for children in Africa. I saw someone suggested maybe they use charity to promote some local war mongers or politician to access to raw materials, etc. and I think it is highly possible. But unfortunately there is no real investigative journalist, the ones who tried to do so ended up in Belmarsh prison in UK (Julian Assange).
