Biden Has Elevated the Job of Science Adviser. Is That What Science Needs?

It further politicizes the nature of the nebulous "Science tm" and all on one person, perpetuating the idea that science is one monolithic block instead of a large number of fields, all getting slightly less wrong at their own pace. The president already has several advisors advising him on scientific matters, this just seems like a dumb optics move.
