Ask HN: How do you use RSS minimally on mobile browsers?
I don't want a standalone app to hop back and forth between my browser. Nor do I want to embed a browser into an app. I simply want a local web page on my phone for my own use where upon a refresh, I get the latest RSS pages for my subscriptions.
Is this too difficult, or would it be easier to just have an app with an embedded browser?
- twobitshifter 5y agoThere are many sites that store your RSS feeds in the cloud, those will simply be a webpage where you can see your latest feeds. For example: https://feeder.co/ https://feeder.co/ If you want to keep rss stories locally, I think you will need a separate app because this isn’t built into any mobile browsers that I know of.
- Nextgrid 5y agoThere are online RSS readers that would do what you want. One example would be The Old Reader (not affiliated in any way): https://theoldreader.com https://theoldreader.com However, on iOS most RSS readers embed the Safari browser as a Safari View Controller for actually viewing the content, so it carries over your history and ad blockers.
