UPS, Fedex and such might be faster, but the postal service is a lot cheaper. I would very much like to keep this cheaper and (sometimes) slower option.
- pibechorro 6y agoIts not cheaper. You are not seeing the hidden costs which are subsidized via taxes. In the US gov workers retire MUCH earlier than normal working people, this creates a huge financial liability keeping up with decades of pensions. I was an ebay powerseller and dealing with ups was always far better than usps, many times by a big margin.
- notriddle 6y agoThe USPS has not received tax money since the 80s. https://www.pbs.org/wnet/need-to-know/five-things/the-u-s-postal-service/11433/ https://www.pbs.org/wnet/need-to-know/five-things/the-u-s-po...
- CountDrewku 6y agoIs it still cheaper if you factor in the tax dollars used to subsidize it?
- Fabricio20 6y agoIs it cheaper if you account the losses that amount from receiving things extremely late (mail that turns into waste)? In my area, every single bank notes or bills arrive at least a month late. I've had water bills arrive 4 months late (bundled together with the ones from the other 3 months). Something is very wrong with Correios, I don't think it's the last mile however, package usually arrives on time (with up to a week of delay in worst cases).
