Ask HN: What's the new things coming after Decentralised system in Tech?
- coderintherye 5y agoDecentralized systems allow privacy preserving verification of credentials. Coupled with continued changes in law to both protect privacy and increase efficiency of government interactions this will eventually lead to a world without paper forms. No more time spent waiting in line at the DMV, the Registrar's office, etc. The technology is part of it, but it's really more of a mindset change. Through enforcing organizations not having your private information, it can actually to a lot more transparency and efficiency in operations.
- geoah 5y agoCompletely agree that it’s more of a mindset change, both for companies/developers and especially users; but I think it’s also a stepping stone for the ubiquitous or pervasive computing academics have been writing about for decades. Apps and services that can talk to each other at first and then devices. This together with the various home devices that people are already collecting and the improvement and mainstream adoption of wearables (thinking mostly of the capabilities of the apple watch here) and technologies such as ultra wideband (apple u1) should be able to take the pervasive computing one step further but adding a layer of locality. Negreponte’s Being digital is an interesting read and doesn’t really feel too outdated and talks about yet to see usages and ways for content personalisation and machine to machine communications.
