I use a physical pager when I’m on-call for our team. I get peace of mind knowing that I don’t need to worry about my phone being charged or being set to silent. I also prefer not having to install any work apps on my personal cellphone. When it beeps, I hop on the computer and ack via web interface, alternatively I can ack back via sms. The whole point is that I need to be able to look at a system immediately so internet access is a requirement during oncall rotation. It’s a single purpose device and it works great, I highly recommend it!
