The Coming Conflict Between Introverts and Extroverts
- GianFabien 5y agoIn my experience managers are extroverts. With WFH, they go batshit crazy because they can't drain energy from the "workers", hence the zoom calls, etc. I actually like WFH, because I can focus on my work. No distractions, no interruptions. When I'm done for the day I can go and do non-work stuff.
- unstatusthequo 5y agoLet’s not forget the extra time gained by merely changing your physical location to do the same work. There are days I’d commute in and spend 6 hours on the phone. Not a very good use of life.
- throwaway81523 5y agoI hadn't thought of that angle but I've been (not seriously I hope) hating on extraverts lately for spreading covid. I can understand being driven to drink by one thing or another, but why does the drinking have to be in crowded bars? If it's just about alcohol, then drinking at home would work just as well. So the culprit must be extraversion, or so the thinking goes.
- WalterGR 5y agoSo the culprit must be extraversion, or so the thinking goes. Whose thinking? What country? There are a tremendous number of people who don't "believe in" COVID in the US. There are a tremendous number of people who think masks are a restraint on their freedom in the US.
- WalterGR 5y agothey go batshit crazy because they can't drain energy from the "workers" You're confusing extroverts with RPG monsters or folklore, unclear.
- tolbish 5y agoSome companies love to claim how much they embrace diversity yet refuse to believe that it's better for some employees to work from home. There is a large range of neurodiverse personalities that thrive in environments they can control like you can at home. Refusing to even entertain this possibility is a very interesting play...if I ran a remote-friendly tech company, I would be on the lookout for some seriously talented people right now who are looking for some more autonomy.
- Breza 5y agoYears before the pandemic, this is how our company met its needs for new hires. We went from "everybody must come to the office" to "you must be allowed to work in the United States" pretty quickly and it was great for our culture and product.
