- adamnemecek 5y agoIn know this is tangential but I had been saying that he was in Abbottabad since 2007. He obsiousky had to have left Afghanistan and Pakistan was the only neighboring country where he could go. He had to stay in the mountains for protections but also had to be in a large city since he needed dialysis. Abbottabad Is literally the only place that fit the bill. Like it was hilarious, all the reports of him being in Argentina or what not. Bin Laden wasn’t Carmen Santiago.
- AtlasBarfed 5y agoReminder: We lost the war on terror. The cost alone was a major loss for the American way of life. It likely ceded leadership to China in the 21st century. And a third empire falls in Afghanistan. This obsession with OBL was part of the problem, part of the media campaign to distract from the loss of economic growth, money, world political leadership, the brand of freedom, and so many other comprehensive defeats we suffered. And after we killed him... nothing changed. We were still losing in Afghanistan as corruption took over Kabul and the poppy fields bloomed. A pyrrhic victory for the ages.
