The real question to me is: is the Pentagon actually taking the possibility of alien visitors seriously or are they using aliens as a cover for drones that have been able to infiltrate US airspace? It seems too easy for them to combine actual unidentified flying object sightings with sightings that the Pentagon knows are of infiltrating drones in order to create a fog around the whole situation
- iancmceachern 5y agoI think this. It's a very convenient, already existing cover story that could be used for all manner of cover ups. Why would the US (and other) governments not take advantage of it?
- libertine 5y agoWhy cover drones, and not cover let's say hackers? They would get way more funding if they said China or Russia are deploying drones in the US air space.
- ampdepolymerase 5y agoBut they do cover hackers. How often do you see non-western news media discussing state sponsored cyber attacks? The whole "we have been hacked and we think XYZ APT did it" is almost exclusive to the anglosphere. Most other countries don't talk about it on prime time news unless there is a physical fallout.

Are they doing either? They literally say they are investigating "unidentified" phenomena, as in ones they haven't identified yet. Everyone seems very careful to not involve alien life.
