I used to be a runner in my younger days. Amateur long distance. It’s the one thing I miss most in my life.
The joy of running is real. After about 7k of running I would normally notice a distinct difference in my mind. My brain stopped trying to tell me it was hard work and that I should stop. It’s like my mind gave up on trying to stop me, and just settled in. After that, a certain peace comes. Where I was 100% present in the moment at the same time as I was 100% somewhere else. It’s like disconnecting the brain for an hour or two. IMO the single best way to relax.
I really miss running.
