Describing it as "sudden change of company culture", "lacking leadership communication" or "wanted to change fields and took the opportunity" can both be valid and inoffensive to either side. On the other hand, there's a chance your hiring manager will feel similarly strong about politics, especially in SV, so even your framing might work.
