World's largest beaver dam shows up on satellite images
- barbazoo 5y agoI hope there's no internet fibre there
- yunohn 5y ago> The half-mile long structure is so impressive, it even shows up on satellite images One would imagine that an article centered on this impressive claim, could display an actual image…
- yesenadam 5y agoThere is a "the beaver dam as seen from space" pic on the page, I had to click right twice to see it. https://assets.atlasobscura.com/media/W1siZiIsInVwbG9hZHMvcGxhY2VfaW1hZ2VzL2Q4OThjYmFlNjhhNzI1MzIxNV9TY3JlZW4gU2hvdCAyMDE3LTExLTA4IGF0IDEwLjA0LjEzIEFNLnBuZyJdLFsicCIsInRodW1iIiwieDM5MD4iXSxbInAiLCJjb252ZXJ0IiwiLXF1YWxpdHkgODEgLWF1dG8tb3JpZW50Il1d/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-08%20at%2010.04.13%20AM.png https://assets.atlasobscura.com/media/W1siZiIsInVwbG9hZHMvcG...
- Badfood 5y agoI show up in satellite images. 30cm is a thing now.
- rualca 5y agoSpatial resolutions higher than 50cm has been a thing for civilian earth observation companies for a couple of decades. There are civilian companies who even provide products with a 25 cm spatial resolution for about a decade now. In fact, currently there is a significant research focus on coregistering products from UAVs and satellite in good part because the differences in spatial resolutions from cheap low-flying drones and satellite imagery haven't been that different, so it's now possible to get reliable feature matches.
