Ask HN: Remove the Show HN newest page and list all submissions on show?
Lots of great work submitted to `Show HN` does not get any attention, because it doesn't make it past the 'newest' section. Would it make sense to do it like the 'Ask' section and show all submissions immediately on show?
- rurban 5y agoNo, certainly not. There's a good reason for the current ranking system. If you want newest, click "newest"

- Grimm1 5y agoI mean the ranking system seems somewhat incomprehensible, I've seen posts with 2 points on show as there are right now. Which to me means those rankings don't contribute much to moving onto show vs new. The FAQ says things move onto show after meeting a small point threshold but that doesn't really seem to be the case to me. Filtering low value content is good, but I guess I'm not a fan of whatever the blackbox that decides it is. I guess it could have to do with whatever like friend detection or voting ring detection things they have which makes sense to me though.
