Space Cloud: Open-Source Firebase and Heroku on Kubernetes
- amerine 5y agoSomeone reset the counter. Just kidding. This looks pretty great!
- HDMI_Cable 5y agoI'm a bit out of the loop, but which counter?
- pas 5y ago"Days since someone announced a new self-hosted hosting on complicated hosting" :)
- throwaway888abc 5y agoImpressive, home page link https://spaceuptech.com/ https://spaceuptech.com/
- nfin 5y agothanks! Does anyone find the flutter app samples? On the linked website above (https://spaceuptech.com/ https://spaceuptech.com/) they say that they have app sample apps for ... and Flutter. I can't find any on their github repo. Does anyone have better eyes than me?
- mmerlin 5y agoThe homepage no longer longer contains the word Flutter. Their github account has zero repo's with Dart or Flutter. If you saw it then I guess they changed it and will show Flutter demo's in the future? Flutter is definitely a solid and viable front-end. While you've still got the spotlight... show us what you've got SpaceUpTech!
- SheinhardtWigCo 5y agoExcellent name.

- high_priest 5y agoAny opinions how this project compares to Supabase (https://github.com/supabase/supabase https://github.com/supabase/supabase) in terms of audience / features, maturity and overall usefulness and performance of both?
- ec109685 5y agoThe eventing part doesn’t seem comparable at all to Firebase: https://docs.spaceuptech.com/microservices/eventing/ https://docs.spaceuptech.com/microservices/eventing/ It merely supports triggers versus the synchronization primitives of Firebase.
- iamgopal 5y agoWhich are the biggest app using firebase ? I guess firebase is gaining traction, does google reports it’s revenue ?
- VinLucero 5y agoLooks like the architecture link in the GitHub is broken. May want to look into that.
- tpetry 5y agoIt‘s nice that a self-hosting PaaS is built again, i have the hope that one in the end will really get traction and is not dead a few month after it has been announced. But what i really would like to see would be a self-hosted postgresql as a service. All these solutions need to reinvent this again and again. If there would be one solution with a good backup concept (!) like wal-g integrated all these new PaaS could skip the DBaaS step and just concentrate on the code as a service part. Their feature set would be a lot smaller which may lead to these projects living longer. Tldr: We need a self-hostable PostgreSql as a Service all these PaaS could depend on.
- andrey_utkin 5y agoHow do you want the responsibilities to be split between you the self-hoster and the software vendor?
- masa331 5y agoI self host Postgres all the time. I just install it on my server. Sometimes i use RDS if a feel fancy.
- acmecorps 5y agoNoob question: does this supports offline syncing like firestore?
- f6v 5y agoTo me the whole point of PaaS is not needing to know which components are powering my app. So I don’t get what this is about.
- bongobingo 5y agoSeems quite similar to Hasura. Looks neat.
