- userbinator 6y agoCompanies like Tesla are trying to change things, but for most of a century it was the norm that the manufacturer would make parts available for purchase, and even if they had stopped doing so, there is a huge aftermarket industry around repair and customisation. The aftermarket has become so big, that you can probably build an entire car of the 50s to early 70s entirely out of aftermarket parts. Even body panels and frame rails are available.
