Is this level of micro-benchmarking actually useful for the given use-case?
When "writing shell scripts / cron jobs / random commandline utilities" I believe my priorities are
1) Does it work?
2) How easy is this to write?
3) How easy is this to read?
In that order.
- sjs 15y agoIt depends how often I run the commands. Subversion -> darcs, git, etc. was like a breath of fresh air. I know that was going out to the network but still latency can be a killer.
- JoachimSchipper 15y agoWell, it's good to know this before rewriting ls, or sed, in Java.
