Academia is extremely tough as well after a PhD. Just that we only hear about those that succeed.
- _carbyau_ 6y agoMy wife has managed labs for various universities. All I know and understand - obviously peripherally from meeting various peoples - is that I will never do a PhD, never get into Academia and I would advise almost anyone else the same. Which is a real shame, because I love the romantic concept of science and advancing knowledge for the world! But todays academic systems seems borderline pathologically damaging to the humans involved.
