> Why guilt?
GP made it seem like whites being a big part of current techno scene is bad.
> The first stuff anyone started calling techno was pretty black
you could say the first stuff anyone started calling electronic music was pretty white. point is, racial attribution for something that has a huge array of influences is silly.
> unheard of racial unity going on
yes, the way it should be.
- wolverine876 5y ago> GP made it seem like whites being a big part of current techno scene is bad. I don't see that; I don't see any "guilt", using your word. Can you point it out? People have other motives. My impression is that you brought your own (reactionary?) bias to it, using a reactionary talking point whether it really applies or not. Why bring down someone who is trying to expand their experiences, knowledge, and community, in a world where racism is common and leads to many people being excluded. We should work to include - that's great, creative, positive; there's no reason it needs to be motivated by guilt.
- devmunchies 5y agoThis confuses the heck out of me. I saw my comment as the more inclusive. > using a reactionary talking point ???
- wolverine876 5y agoProbably your first time discussing these things on the Internet!
- jamal-kumar 5y agoim gonna start a music project called sounding fun at techno parties
- devmunchies 5y agoreddit joke from 2015? wait am i just debating a bunch of redditors? makes me feel better about my opinion now.
- randy909 5y agoYour reaction is akin to saying "all lives matter" in response to the Black Lives Matter movement. You can look up why it's wrong.
- Jesus_piece 5y agoPerfect analogy to this conversation
- emptyfile 5y agoAh yes. Telling americans to shut up about race already == "reactionary talking point"
- zozbot234 5y agoThis article is about techno specifically, not electronic music. There's a lot of electronic music that has nothing to do with techno - techno is a genre, like chiptune, trance or dubstep.
- devmunchies 5y ago> As part of Beatportal’s new series on the history of electronic dance music, Marcus Barnes explores the rich history of techno, from the 1970s right through to today. it's a series about electronic music history.
