Two interesting perspectives baked into this (correct me if I'm wrong here):
1. I'm okay with others taking credit for my work because that effectively means they own it and therefore have to support it
2. Make sure you get some of the credit as to not affect performance reviews, accomplishments, etc.
There's a lot of truth in both, but are obviously at odds with each other. Do you have recommendations on how to reconcile them?
- LinuxBender 5y agoI think it depends on the person and situation. The person may not require recognition and thus can benefit from less obligations. Or the person may be at a point in their career requiring the recognition and accepting they may have more obligations. Even then the situation is not binary. One can always ask for work to be delegated to others. The options will vary by management, staff load and company culture.
