Supreme Court wary of giving schools broad authority over off-campus speech
- throwawaysea 5y agoNeither schools nor any other public institution nor even private entities (like corporations) should have any authority over people’s private speech made outside of their roles as students or employees or whatever. Otherwise what we have is a society where we don’t really enjoy the right to free speech but instead have to restrict our speech based on the rules set by these institutions’ leaders.
- klyrs 5y agoNo restrictions? So if I divulge trade secrets in private, my employer shouldn't be able to fire me and litigate the pants off me and my family?

- gloriousternary 5y ago> outside of their roles as students or employees or whatever I think trade secrets count as inside you role at a company
- yeetman21 5y agoprivate entities (work places) do not have any implicit authority but can just fire people for certain speech made i.e. racism etc...
- MeinBlutIstBlau 5y agoThe Biden Administration sided with the district... Do people honestly think these guys are less corrupt than trump? They clearly are out to prevent individualism at any level.
- tdeck 5y agoNot sure I follow the logic here - how does this relate to corruption? Is there some suggestion that the school district paid kickbacks to the administration, or is it run by one of the president's family members / personal friends?
