The vertical axis turbine seems like it would scale in size better since the blades are spinning perpendicular to gravity
- jhayward 5y agoThey are subject to much higher dynamic forces, rapidly cycling between windward and lee side. Vertical turbines have worse wear characteristics, and it only gets worse as they get bigger and need more massive airfoils.
