Wall St spent $2.9B on campaigns and lobbying during 2020 election
- NaturalPhallacy 5y ago>Of the $1.9 billion, 47% went to Republicans and 53% went to Democrats. In fact, this report notes that more than $250 million from those working in the FIRE sector went toward supporting Biden, the most out of all the contenders for president. Those contributions were a mix of donations to his campaign and outside groups supporting him. >Former President Donald Trump, on the other hand, saw just over $103 million from those same industries. I'm really surprised that more people weren't driven to the Green or Libertarian parties this time around. Both establishment candidates were just so awful. What can an average citizen do against $1.9 billion dollars? To put it another way when are we going to just admit that America is an oligarchy pretending to be a democracy? https://web.archive.org/web/20140825193144/http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/08/19/oligarchic-tendencies-study-finds-only-the-wealthy-get-represented-in-the-senate/ https://web.archive.org/web/20140825193144/http://www.rawsto...
