sam's pissed.
- sleepyhead 5y agoYup. Doesn't look like there is a way back. I wonder what this will mean for the JS-experience in Rails. Rails is so big it lives outside Basecamp, but Hotwire is so tied to the company.
- Trasmatta 5y agoSam who?
- agos 5y agoPossibly San Stephenson? Their Twitter is currently protected, so it’s hard to tell.
- sweepyjunior 5y agoSam Stephenson, works at Basecamp, specifically on Hotwired at the moment I think
- sweepyjunior 5y agoDid they say anything on their Twitter? It's protected now.
- sleepyhead 5y agoSince it's protected I won't publish it but: yes.
- klelatti 5y agoJonas too: https://twitter.com/jonasdowney/status/1386792772334768130 https://twitter.com/jonasdowney/status/1386792772334768130
- swyx 5y agothis was very relevant to me and something I didn't know - the employees found out at the same time as the outside world. Jason and DHH seem to not have bothered getting internal consensus first before going ahead with this thing. (confirmed with sam) live feed of employee reactions https://twitter.com/i/lists/1202647 https://twitter.com/i/lists/1202647
- draw_down 5y agoI’m sorry but these people come off like huge babies to me. Nobody is saying what is so horrible in practical effect about this, just a bunch of moralizing about silencing voices.
- kjjjjjjjjjjjjjj 5y agoMan they complain a lot. They banned politics at the WORK slack channel and they are all upset about! Do they have nothing else to worry about? No other problems? People in india live on like 3 cents a day and these people are making 100k/yr acting like this is the biggest travesty they have faced. Another example out of touch tech people.
