The rate of entrepreneurship is declining in the US, perhaps due to higher corporate concentration or the cost of not having regular benefits (healthcare primarily). The effect of such a decline is much more pronounced when multiplied by the hundreds of thousands of communities that small businesses like restaurants impact.
