- sumedh 6y agoWarren Buffett and Bill Gates say they should be paying more taxes.
- gruez 6y agoBut they're not voluntarily doing so. They don't want to be the only ones doing it.
- sumedh 6y agoThey are lobbying to increase taxes and giving away their wealth. What more do you want from them? Are you paying more taxes than you are required to?
- gruez 6y ago> They are lobbying to increase taxes and giving away their wealth. What more do you want from them? I think you're misreading my comment. It wasn't meant to shame buffet/gates for not paying more taxes, it was to point out that even they are going to act in their self interest in terms of paying taxes. ie. they won't pay more taxes than they need do.
- sumedh 5y agoThey are donating their wealth so its not like they are going to hoard the money because the tax is low. So I dont really understand why you think they should pay more than the official tax for now
- rabuse 6y agoYet, they're not. "Do as I say, not as I do!"
- sumedh 5y agoYou are saying they dont pay taxes, do you have any proof for that?
- mupuff1234 6y agoIt's not as clear cut IMO. I'd argue that general societal prosperity is in the best interest of a lot of companies (and their shareholders).
- 6gvONxR4sf7o 6y agoRight, but that's not the comment. There's no duty not to be charitable.
