- geoah 5y agoThere is a very interesting novel by Greg Egan, "Quarantine" [1] that plays with the notion that consciousness causes collapse [2] in very interesting ways. [SPOILERS] The premise of the book is that some alien entity has put our solar system in a bubble that does not permit light to enter in order to stop humans from collapsing the wave functions of alien civilizations and causing them harm. 1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quarantine_(Egan_novel) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quarantine_(Egan_novel) 2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Von_Neumann%E2%80%93Wigner_interpretation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Von_Neumann%E2%80%93Wigner_int...
