In my college years I've been told a lot of things by my profs. ORMs will kill RDBs, UML is the shit, Agile is the future of all software engineering etc. I could never see most of those things happening but always assumed that they're smarter so they must know what they're talking about. It's kind of satisfying but also profoundly sad that they were both wrong and failed to instill a reflex of questioning authority in their students.
