I'm a fan of overnight rail. If high speed rail were available, Toronto to Edmonton would be about 11 hours. Grab a 10pm train and arrive at 7am (with time change). I'd take that over a 5 hour flight.
- kjrose 6y agoOh it'd be nice but it'd be as expensive if not more than a first class flight. The sleeper car I got for the 2 night trip cost me quite a chunk of change.
- phamilton 6y agoI wonder if high speed rail would be cheaper. Is the primary cost driver time or miles? I could see a scenario where getting a sleeper car for 10 hours would be cheaper than getting one for 36 hours.
- kjrose 6y agoIt doesn't work out that way for the shinkansen in Japan unfortunately. I'd be surprised if Canada was much different.
