I hear short sounds more than people around me. I work with audio and consequently find it hard to switch 'listening' off. Hotel rooms are fun - no, it isn't a quiet room. Phase is something I notice all the time, and fix it, speakers, mixes, dead spots. You're totally right about sensitivity & coping strategies.
