Basic professional ethics. Don't do or participate what you're not comfortable with. Hold your ground and let them either do things right or fire you. This happened to me at a Big Name university where they wanted me to rush punching major holes in a secure private network for credit card processing to make it more convenient for a contractor to be able to remote in. I told my boss "it's not going to happen on this timeline without a security review" and was told to do it or resign. That was it.
