Re-establishes the US as a country with humanitarian principles
- Crye 5y agoI can't tell if this is being facetious. who cares about the past, when we're still supporting the Saudi's war on Yemen, causing an ongoing famine, or ratcheting up embargoes on Venezuela when their food chain is breaking. I'm not arguing this is not a good thing for the US to recognize, but please.
- glial 5y agoI totally agree about Yemen -- Biden made noises early on about ending support but so far hasn't done much, as far as i know.
- darkhorse13 5y agoFeels very empty when there are so many current humanitarian crises that the USA chooses to sweep under the rug due to various interests.
- rualca 5y ago> Feels very empty when there are so many current humanitarian crises (...) I really don't understand this sort of goalpost-moving. This formal recognition of the Armenian genocide, which goes against the interests of a major NATO ally, is not an empty or even small gesture. Going the whataboutism path does nothing to change the importance of this political position, specially as a clear signal that principles trump opportunism.
