Orange and blue edges around objects
- ksaj 5y agoWhen I look at something metallic pink (like an old ipod) or intense pink (like some flowers), I see a darker indigo halo around part of the edge. Pretty much exactly as you illustrate, but only affecting that one colour. I just figured it was something related to astigmatism. It never occurred to me there might be a name for it.
- ksaj 5y ago"Theoretical considerations of the feasibility of correcting chromatic aberration were debated in the 18th century following Newton's statement that such a correction was impossible" - from following the rabbit hole to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Achromatic_lens https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Achromatic_lens Eventually scientists stopped using the word "impossible."
- micouay 5y agoInteresting. Do you also see it with your glasses off?
- ksaj 5y agoNo, and for the same reason shown on the web page. Without a sharp edge, any "halo" is obscured in all the blur. So it probably does, but there isn't really a way for me to differentiate it.
