I hope countries learn from this mess and start working to build up their local manufacturing capacity, even if only to cover their own needs when global disruptions like this hit. It doesn't have to be cutting edge or competitive cost-wise. Even late 90s era tech would do. ICs, like electricity, are indispensable to modern life. They're availability must be secured and protected in the same way.
