Facebook Failed to Prevent Stop the Steal
- mikece 6y agoThis is the dilemma for a company like Facebook or Google who make their money from the ability to generate and sell hyper-focused marketing profiles: "Stop the steal" was VERY POPULAR and the people most likely to visit such content on Facebook were also likely to buy flags and hats and mugs and.... and Facebook would be leaving a TON of money on the table to shut that all down, something their shareholders might not appreciate regardless of their politics. At the end of the it ain't about blue or red, it's about GREEN.
- zthrowaway 6y agoRemember when Parlor was eradicated from the internet by big tech because they couldn’t stop this movement either? Or was that just a play to get rid of some competition?
- madhadron 6y agoParler was much more dependent. Facebook owns its own data centers, its own fiber...if it has bridges to the rest of the Internet no one else really can cut it off, and those bridges are largely guaranteed by contracts.
