This guy seems to have pinpointed the problem:

The problem is unoptimized apps running on Rosetta2.
- astrange 6y agoEmulated apps don’t use more memory. It’s more likely Activity Monitor calculates their usage wrong, it doesn’t show very accurate numbers in the first place.
