Ask HN: Best way to transition into deep tech?
What would you advise someone wanting to work in deep tech companies? Go back to university and study engineering related stuff?
I would like to keep things general for other hackers, but my situation is - I am finishing studies in business major and I was planning to work at a traditional Internet startup. Probably creating CRUD apps. I saw this tweet [0] and got inspired to try to work at a deep tech startup instead. I am interested in biology of longevity and space industry

- Minor49er 6y agoWhat do you mean by "deep tech"?
- qnsi 6y agofor example longevity, inventing new drugs, space industry, transportation industry. Anything that has big invention risk and not so much market risk. It's trivial to build most of the apps, but its hard to build something users want. With invention risk, it's obvious there is a big market for cancer drug, but its hard to invent that
- Minor49er 6y agoThat might be difficult to find. Most new invention risks also carry a similar amount of market risk.
- thunkshift1 6y agoYou would need a phd for that.. or it would likely be doing low tech stuff in deep tech company
