If we had invested in space exploration the same amount of resources we are investing in ads, tracking, finance and bitcoin, we would already have tourists in the asteroid belt, the climate/energy issue would be solved, and we would probably enjoy many other incredible health and food-related technologies.
Complaining about the ridiculously small amounts of resources currently invested in space exploration is really short minded.
- koheripbal 5y agoThis is a poor argument - especially if you include finance. Finance makes large scale project possible by providing developers access to capital via the bond market.
- antisol 5y agoAnd what role does finance play in a society where money isn't a thing? Finance is only a drain on actual resources. Think of all the accountants that could have been out there creating things and doing useful stuff rather than playing make-believe with numbers. That genius who invented that finance thing you like might possibly have come up with a grand unified theory thing if he had focused on something useful rather than finance.
- koheripbal 5y agoFinance was invented out of necessity. People in ancient Egypt needed finance to feed people. It's not some esoteric concept. Just because you don't understand it, doesn't mean it holds no value.
- antisol 5y agoNo, people in ancient Egypt needed food to feed people.

- antisol 5y ago"they needed crops" They did? The Ancient Egyptions were obligate herbivores? Huh. I guess you really do learn something new every day.
